Christmas is only a week away and I'm sure you are all totally organised and have all your gifts bought and wrapped already...... *ahem*...... but in case you haven't here's a few of my favourite gift ideas for the wine lover who has everything.
These are fabulous little stocking fillers that will keep your friends and family occupied on Christmas day, once the wine has been opened, of course. Choose from several animal related designs or mix and match a few to create you own random critters. They are widely available and under a tenner.
If, like me, you never seem to have an ice bucket or bottle cooler around when you need one here's a great new gadget that will solve that problem. The Corkicle
simple sits in the top of your opened bottle of wine, acts as a seal and keeps the wine cool from within. You simply keep in the freezer, it looks a lot smarter than the plastic covers and it's ideal for if you fancy just a little bit of chill on your reds.
Wine Tasting Journals
So many more wine lovers these days are wanting to record the wines they are drinking, especially the more special ones, so what better gift for the oenophile in your life than their own tasting note book. There are many to choose from on the market but I particularly like these two; a lambskin memorandum from smythson.com
at around £45 or, for about a third of the price, a personalised wine guide from notonthehighstreet.com
These are not the kind of slippers you would wear on your feet, but instead the kind you place around the foot of your wine glass. We all know that when friends and family descend for Christmas there will inevitably be rings of red wine dotted around various surfaces of the house, often where we really don't want them. These handy felt covers prevent that from happening and saves the need for coasters whilst acting as a wine charm so you never forget which wine is yours. Widely available or why not try making your own?
Wine for Christmas
Of course the ultimate gift for any wine lover is wine. Order before noon on Thursday 2oth December and The Perfect Cellar
can still order in time for Christmas. Choose from a selection of gifts to suit all budgets and tastes.
Hopefully this has given you some inspiration, we all have that one person who's awkward to buy for and I'm sure they'll love these ideas.
Have a very Merry Christmas!
