With Suffragette hitting our screens on the 23rd October we’re doing a big shout out to all the inspirational women in film, fashion and music this week. To highlight their distinctive character we’ve assigned each lady with their own grape variety. And of course, we’d love to hear if you have any additions to the list!
Meryl Steep: Starting with the leading lady herself, Meryl Streep plays Emmeline Pankhurst, the spearhead of the Suffragettes. We’ve paired her with a full bodied and bold Viognier, elegant yet fierce in character.
Emma Watson: This lady appears delicate until you realise the oomph behind her actions. Having led the ground-breaking campaign, He for She, last year, Miss Watson deserves a grape that packs a punch, the most aromatic grape variety of all, Sauvignon Blanc.
Angelina Jolie: She’s known throughout the world for her beauty but Ang has also made waves when it comes to her charity work. We’ve paired her with the angelic Muscat grape, sweet and perfumed leading to a full and mouth-watering impression that lasts and lasts.
Vivienne Westwood: She’s in a league of her own, paving the way for womens’ punk fashion and has been coined a British icon. She’s wild and untameable, similar to the Tannat grape found in Uruguay.
Dame Judy Dench: One of the most loved British actresses, with 50 years in film, Dame Judy Dench is an inspirational lady. She has done extensive work with charities in Africa and Indian, receiving honorary degrees form Durham, Surrey and Nottingham universities. This kind natured lady has been paired with Pinot Grigio, a versatile and easy drinking variety, loved by all.
