Sun, gastronomy, wine and culture: 17. mai Norwegian Constitution Day, Southwark Park

A wonderfully sunny Sunday in Southwark Park played host to the annual Norwegian Constitution Day celebrations – a festival of (Norwegian) culture, food and wine to celebrate their historic independence from Sweden. If you attended this event, chances are you tried our wine - not only did we supply the hugely popular Scandinavian Kitchen bar, but we also had our own stand showcasing some of the wines you can expect as part of our unique Nordic Wine Club. Good entertainment, good wine, good food – what’s not to love?!

Never usually known for voluntarily getting up at 7am on a Sunday, we were all in high spirits as we put together the final preparations. In a slice of luck that would’ve made Cnut himself jealous, the notoriously unpredictable English weather worked in our favour for once; the predicted drizzle never materialised, and by the time we got to Southwark Park, London was bathed in glorious sunshine that stayed all day long. The day soon kicked off in full colour with a plethora of traditional dress, children’s games and music, as well as speeches from notable personnel such as the Norwegian finance minister Siv Jensen. Admittedly we might be biased, but we thought the day was an enormous success! We had a great time engaging with people about our Nordic Wine Club, with loads of positive feedback and interest. And with more good food than you can shake a wine bottle at….

Were you there? What was your personal highlight? Tweet your pictures of the day to @PerfectCellar to stand a chance of winning a bottle of Tendil & Lombardi champagne.
