About the Producer
As one ambles to the south of Léognan towards the gates of Martillac, known for producing some of the finest grands crus of the region, one finds oneself next to the Domaine de la Solitude at Chateau de Ferran. Studies have been made upon the soils here to make sure that a perfect parcellary vinification is performed, and this led to the birth of the special cuvee “Les Côtes”. This particular parcel consists of tiny gravel upon a subsoil of clay and chalk. The yield is closely controlled and Philippe Lacoste would rather see a bunch harshly rejected on the ground than risk any green tannins in his wines. Harvest is only performed in the morning with rapid “cuvaison” to avoid any oxidation of the wine.
This stunning property was owned by Jeanne de Lartigue. The Chateau is run today by Ghislaine and Philippe Lacoste who became the directorial generation in 1999. They have worked to make their wine an expression of the superb Martillac terroir as Chateau Ferran strives to imitate the quality of its richest neighbours. The technical direction is now assured by Pierre Hubert Gory, following his stints at Chateaux Latour and Beychevelle. Since longtime the Faure family have emphasize the sustainable agriculture, refusing the using of pesticides, and that’s why the 2013 vintage become organic / biodynamic.
65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, dark garnet colour. Fruity aromas of cranberry, dark cherry, orange zest, plum, and toffee with a lightly tannic, lively, medium-full body and a charming, medium-long pomegranate, herbs de Provence, bay leaf, and earth finish with firm tannins and moderate oak flavour.

The 2014 Château Ferran begins with inviting aromatics of blackberries and cherries woven together with toast, spices and hints of licorice all taking shape. On the palate this is medium-plus bodied with a gorgeous plush texture and lovely overall concentration. It continues to impress with its excellent balance of ripe fruit and acidity that keeps is fresh through the long, expansive finish. Delicious now, but will evolve nicely over the next decade.

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty or corked bottles, or wines you don’t like. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.
Should we be unable to fulfill any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar Ltd will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.
In all instances, Perfect Cellar Ltd must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by letter or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.
If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar Ltd you may do so within seven working days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar Ltd will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.
No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
