Château Graves de Pez Saint-Estèphe 2014 - (12 bottles)

92 Points - IWR. The vineyard is situated on some of the finest terroir of Saint Estephe, on the hallowed gravel plateau shared among parcels from Château Montrose, Cos d’Estournel and Haut Marbuzet. Winemaking is done in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and the wine is transferred into oak barrels for 12 months of ageing. This enhances the fruit in this wine and there are no hard tannins, rusticity or dryness. The result is a very enjoyable Saint Estèphe.

About the Producer

The Saint Martin family knows how to make and run a great Saint Estèphe property having contributed a generation to Chateau Lafon Rochet. The new generation, Maxime Saint Martin, has taken over these 3 hectares to create a wonderful wine, true to its terroir and massively attractive. He makes his wine with the help of consultant winemaker Eric Boissenot who has the finest CV in Bordeaux, having been responsible for the quality of 4 of the 5 first growths (Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Margaux) for many years.

Taste & Awards

92 Points - International Wine Report

"The 2014 Graves de Pez is a fantastic showing, delivering attractive aromas and flavors of blackberries and ripe cherries, which are woven together with spices, tar, fresh cut floral and minerals. The medium to full body is well structured and expands beautifully across the palate. This continues to impress with excellent balance, and a wonderful round, polished texture, leading into a long velvety finish. While this is delicious right now, I expect it will show even better with just a few years of bottle age. 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 2% Petite Verdot. (Best 2017-2026) - August, 2016 (JD)"

88 Points - Wine Enthusiast.

"This third-generation property of seven acres is close to the village of Saint-Estèphe on the Pez plateau. Fruity and juicy, the wine is beginning to approach maturity. Its tannins and wood ageing are still showing although they are beginning to be well integrated. Wait a few years and drink this wine from 2023. Roger Voss - 12/31/2018"
