Grown on the gravel plateaus of the Médoc, the grape brings blackcurrant depth and cedar, while Merlot adds a soft, plush edge that keeps things approachable. It is a proper classed growth Pauillac that does not demand you wait a decade to enjoy it. The estate farms with care for the environment and holds High Environmental Value certification, so you can pour a glass with a clear conscience. Think roast lamb, a Sunday table and good company.

Taste

Purple in the glass with garnet hues at the rim. The nose is generous and fruit driven, with blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry layered over gentle spice, and a hint of cedar. The palate opens mellow and smooth, then flows evenly through the middle to a long, tasty finish. Elegant and harmonious, with ripe tannins that stay soft rather than severe. Aged for 18 months in French oak, around 60% new. Serve at 16 to 18°C. Delicious now with a little decanting, and it should keep rewarding patience for years to come.

Wine Press Ratings

91 Points - Falstaff (2021 Vintage)
"fine tannins, balanced, a pleasant food wine, has good ageing potential"

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 72%, Merlot 28%

About the Producer

Château Lynch Moussas sits on the western plateaus of Pauillac and was named a Fifth Growth in the famous 1855 classification. Its story begins in the 18th century with Count Jean Baptiste Lynch, an Irish exile who went on to become mayor of Bordeaux. By the late 1960s the estate had fallen into serious neglect. The Castéja family, who have owned it since 1919, brought it back to life with a complete overhaul of the vineyards and cellar. Today Philippe Castéja leads the estate, which has 62 hectares of vines on deep gravel soils, tended with respect for the environment and picked by hand. A second wine, Les Hauts de Lynch Moussas, has been made since 2001.
