A touch of gentle oak gives a smooth, soft attack and a good length, so it is fruity without being heavy. It is run by Bernard Latour, his wife and their sons Julien, who worked in Australia, and Emilien. Their vineyards lie across Violès, the pebbly Plan de Dieu, Vacqueyras, Rasteau and Gigondas, with an average vine age of more than 40 years, and they are farmed organically across the whole estate. The wines are made traditionally in stainless steel and concrete, then matured in large old foudres.
