The brothers Héctor and Pablo Durigutti have spent years reviving the historic Las Compuertas district of Luján de Cuyo, and this is its freshest, most transparent expression of the grape. Juicy red cherries, fine herbs and hints of paprika and hibiscus give it perfume and lift, with fine tannins and lively acidity. It is a food friendly red for roast chicken, lamb, grilled vegetables or goat’s cheese. The palate is agile and vibrant, with fine tannins, good acidity and a texture that is chalky and mineral from the concrete eggs. The finish is subtle and refreshing. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete eggs without epoxy, and aged in the eggs, with no oak.
