After 25 years in corporate communications, including two decades at IBM, he swapped his suit and keyboard for pruning shears and overalls, went back to university in 2021 for a three-year degree in viticulture and wine business at IMC Krems, and served an apprenticeship at Paumanok Vineyards on New York's Long Island — the chapter where a lifelong wine lover finally makes his own.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe settled in Krems an der Donau, an hour from Vienna, and bought a small, long-abandoned single vineyard — the Kremsleithen, a steep loam-and-clay slope down to the river Krems, first recorded in 1266.
