92 Points - Peñín Wines of Spain Guide 2020. A 100% mono varietal wine made from the rare Rufete grape which is championed by the winemakers at Vinos La Zorra. Every care is taken with the processing of the grapes for this wine, table sorting, de-stemming and then gentle pressing, all to preserve the wonderful aromatics of this grape variety. Fermentation then occurs in used French & American Oak medium toasted barrels before maturing in stainless steel for 8 months. The result, a bright and fresh wine with aromas of creamy oak, black fruit and herbs. It has a lovely structure without being overpowering and a long and pleasant finish. Such a beautiful discovery !

Bright cherry colour with light tones of violet. Aromas of creamy oak and mature black fruit, mountain herbs, vanilla, dairy, toastiness and smooth cocoa. Tannic and structured on the palate, with silky and pleasant toastiness, with a lengthy and persistent finish.

About the Producer

From the forested Sierra de Francia in the province of Salamanca, 250km west of Madrid, Mogarraz, is one of the most picturesque villages in Spain. Wine is in the blood of the Maíllo family, and it was the current owner, Agustin Maillo who turned the family cellar into the commercial producer of Vinos La Zorra whose passion, amongst others, is Rufete, a rare and an interesting indigenous grape variety from the Sierra de Francia and is the best guarded secret in the DO Sierra de Salamanca.

The Sierra de Francia has a long tradition of winemaking, and although the DO Sierra de Salamanca is relatively young designated wine region, wine has been made here for over 2000 years, and amongst the slopes of San Esteban, you can find pre-Roman cave presses.

The TastingBOX is delivered free of charge by UK Royal Mail Tracked 48hr to UK addresses only.

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
