This is Chardonnay dialled up to eleven: bold, textured and unapologetically hedonistic. Sourced from some of Napa and Sonoma’s best sites, it’s a wine that manages to marry power and polish without ever tipping into excess. Think of it as California sunshine in liquid form — but with the complexity and balance that Phinney’s meticulous blending always delivers.

Wine Press Ratings

91 Points - Owen Bargreen (2023 Vintage)

"The 2023 ‘Mannequin’ Chardonnay is a smooth and rich bottling that is drinking marvelously now. Brioche and poached pear flavors mingle well with dense honeydew melon on the palate."

Tasting Notes

A rich, layered Chardonnay with ripe pear, baked apple and apricot at its core, wrapped in notes of vanilla, toasted brioche and a hint of lemon curd. The palate is full-bodied yet beautifully proportioned, with a creamy texture offset by a streak of freshness that keeps everything in check. The finish is long, spicy and faintly saline, leaving you in no doubt that this is serious, crafted wine — not just a pretty label.

About the Producer

The history of Orin Swift Cellars dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A few more years of university led to graduation and eventually a job at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 as a temporary harvest worker. Deciding that if he was going to work this hard, it would eventually have to be for himself, he founded Orin Swift Cellars in 1998; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. With two tons of zinfandel and not much else, he spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and grew the brand to what it is today.
