What's in the box?
1 * Michel Genet 'MG BB Spirit' Grand Cru Champagne NV
91 Points - Cellar Tracker - From the Grand Cru vineyards of Chouilly comes this stunning Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) Grand Cru Champagne. Complex toasty and citrus notes are well balanced in this fantastic value premium Champagne. Gold yellow colour with aromas of pastries and freshly baked bread. On the palate, citrus dominated flavours of lemon, tangerine & grapefruit with a complex finish of cocoa and linseed oil. Under £40 this is without a doubt, one the best Grand Cru champagnes you will ever taste!
1 * Domaine de Bois Mozé Crémant de Loire NV
91 Points - James Melendez - An exceptional organic sparkling wine that puts many champagnes in its shadow. This excellent Organic Crémant de Loire has been aged for a minimum of 12 months to obtain maximum aromatics and complexity. The first nose is delicate and very fresh, then it is more expressive through a small biscuit tip after aeration. We find this in the mouth within a compact texture, built by the time on slats, illustrated by small and delicate bubbles and supported by aromas of fresh lime, apricots, lemongrass and peaches. The delicate bubbles and balanced acidity give this Crémant poise, finesse and elegance.
1 * Domaine Charly Nicolle Petit Chablis 2020
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast - From 15-20 year old vines, this Petit Chablis has all of the characteristics of great quality Chablis despite its more humble appellation. Aromas of quince and lemon are laced with white flowers and hints of crushed stones, simply beautiful. Intoxicating perfumes of summer flowers and fruit fill the nose. Its character has traits of oysters and shells. A Chablis aroma couldn’t be more authentic than this.
1 * Ramirana Sauvignon Blanc 2021
A great value aromatic Sauvignon Blanc bursting with tropical & citrus notes from the sun drenched vineyards of Chile. Lime, grapefruit, pineapple and pear, with vibrant acidity and a medium body, it maintains the freshness we all love from Sauvignon Blanc. This is a very good and drinkable wine perfectly suited to any occasion.
1 * Domaine de la Furonnière Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie 2020
Bronze Medal Concours General Agricole Paris Wine Competition. This Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie comes from one of the most famous Terroir of Nantes’ Vineyard, in the Loire Valley. Light green in colour with aromas of kiwi, grapefruit, white peach, apple, and lemon fruits, well balanced with a fine minerality. Round and soft with a fresh finish. You will appreciate the typical character and elegance of this white dry wine enhanced by subtle floral aromatics and a fine mineral touch. Delicious with seafood.
1 * Baglio al Sole Pinot Grigio Friuli Grave DOC 2020
Award Winning Winemaker - A breath of fresh air in a world of too much mediocre Pinot Grigio. Baglio al Sole is not only incredibly drinkable but offers so much more! From Villa degli Olmi comes this Pinot Grigio from the famous Grave zone in Friuli, an area where viticulture dates back to the Roman Empire. Fresh and pleasantly soft on the palate with aromas & flavours of light citrus and delicate flowers complemented by green apple & pear, with a dry finish.
1 * Casa La Rad Tinto Rioja DOCa 2017
93 Points - James Suckling - Gold Medal Winner - Mundus Vini. Casa La Rad is a winery dedicated to the environment to sustain and improve its vitality and biodiversity. From the La Rad vineyard, the grapes are handpicked and carefully selected from bush trained vines 35 years or older, before malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels of 500 and 225 litres where it will be aged for at least 14 months. A highly rated wine by the international wine press, and gold medal winning wine at the Mundus Vini awards, Casa La Rad Tinto is a Rioja in the modern style not overpowered by the injudicious use of oak, with layers of complex aromas and vibrant fruit. A wine to be enjoyed now, or to lay down to increase further in complexity.
1 * Quattro Passi 'Appassimento' IGT Veneto 2020
This Multi Award Winning wine from Villa degli Olmi is made in the style of Amarone but from grapes outside of the official jurisdiction. Corvina & Rondinella are the dominate varieties, however, the blend also consists of Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. Using the Appassimento method which consists of drying the grapes to concentrate the aromas, the wine is dark red in colour with a silky, unctuous texture and a pleasant aroma. This wine is soft with a lovely roundness and balanced persistence - Just sensational!
1 * Villa Walter Fontana Legame Rosso di Valtellina DOC 2019
This 100% Chiavennasca (the Valtellina name for Nebbiolo) is the perfect alternative to a fresher, lighter style of Barolo. If you never heard of ‘Heroic Viticulture’ you must check out where this wine was made. Valtellina valley is nestled in the Italian Alps about 100km from Lake Como and the Stelvio pass. Jumps out of the glass with its fragrant nose of fresh forest fruit and red berries. Dry and savoury on the palate, an elegant and vibrant style of red wine with notes of spices, black cherries and peppery, somewhat salty finish. This low production exceptional wine is a must try for anyone who enjoys a fresher and more approachable style of Barolo...
1 * Cagliero Ravera Barolo 2018
A great Barolo from the cru Ravera, close to the villages of Barolo and Novello, from the fantastic 2018 vintage. This Barolo from Cagliero is pure and authentic, beautiful structure with a bouquet of violets, ripe fruit (plums) and spices. Layered and round in the mouth and beautifully balanced, young but pleasant tannins on the tongue, resulting in an endless finish. Already very good today, this wine will age beautifully for years to come!
1 * Château Haut-Maurac Médoc 2019
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast - Located in the district of Saint-Yzans, Château Haut-Maurac faces the Gironde estuary, similar to the best hillsides in Medoc. A low yield of 35hl/ha, this Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux has a muscular but balanced palate which is well structured and has a core of lovely polished fruits from the Merlot dominant blend.
1 * Château Chantelune Margaux 2019
91 Points - Decanter (2018) - A jewel located on top of the highest hill in Margaux, Château Chantelune is a unique property. Its previous owner, Mr. Soubrane was a carpenter who believed in felling his trees by moonlight, claiming this gave the best quality wood. His practice gave the property its name, meaning “sing to the moon.” The current owner is the world renowned José Sanfins, director at third growth property, Château Cantenac Brown and produces only 400 cases. The rounded tannins add a sexy backbone that leaves a wonderfully warm pleasing feeling on the palate that persists until you can’t help yourself but to go back for more. The elegant Merlot gives the wine balance and perfectly complements the Cabernet. One of the jewels of The Perfect Cellar collection!
