The Neylons were pioneers of the green lipped mussel industry, and in 1985 they bought prime vineyard land in the Rapaura and Dillons Point subregions, growing apples before turning to vines. The first wine under the Rapaura Springs name was made in 2007, and the label shows a circle of rocks that represents the pure spring in its home vineyard, fed by water filtering down from the Southern Alps.
