Winemakers Tasting Notes
"Aromas of Asian pear, peach nectar, lemon rind, citrus blossom with flavours of Golden Delicious apple, crushed rocks, pear, flint, caramel with a refreshingly complex finish."
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Lemon pith and apricot jam aromas are cut by a clean line of chalky alkalinity on the nose of this appellation blend. Snappy citrus flavors of lime and grapefruit show on the palate alongside ripe pear and peach, but the saltiness attracts the most attention."
92 Points - Vinous Media
"Bright straw-yellow. Lively, mineral-tinged citrus and orchard fruits on the nose; jasmine and vanilla flourishes add complexity. Bright and nervy on the palate, offering spice-laced pear, Meyer lemon and peach flavors and a hint of candied ginger. Turns deeper on the persistent finish, which repeats the mineral and pear notes and leaves a floral note behind."
90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
"Moving to the estate wines, the 2020 Chardonnay Estate comes from the Rincon, Rosemary's and Oliver's vineyards. It has a beautiful bouquet of tropical fruits, tart quince, toasted spices, and white flowers. This carries to a medium-bodied Chardonnay with good balance, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish."
About the Producer
The goal at Talley Vineyards is to produce estate-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that best reflect the unique characteristics of each of the Talley family’s five San Luis Obispo County vineyards. Talley is located in the Arroyo Grande Valley on California’s South Central Coast, eight miles from the Pacific Ocean. The Talley family has owned the land for three generations with a focus on vegetables until the first grapes were planted on the property in 1986, which the land was well equipped for, given its rolling hills and breezy climate. Brian Talley started his work on the family vegetable farm at the age of 12, and he now runs the vineyard program which is about 36,000 cases today. Of special note is the Rosemary’s Vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, named after Brian’s mother and the estate matriarch. All wines produced under the Talley label are grown, produced, and bottled by Talley.
