The Prisoner Wine Company has built its reputation on breaking away from traditional Napa Valley blending rules. Its inspiration comes from the historic “mixed blacks” tradition, where different red grape varieties were planted and harvested together in the same vineyard blocks, then co fermented. This old California practice, brought over by Italian immigrants, naturally produced deeply coloured, flavourful wines with plenty of richness and texture.
