An unusually elegant, rich Southern Rhône red at 15% alcohol, from sandy vineyards near Bollène, some of which border Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Grenache and Syrah are fermented slowly and coolly over about 30 days, with the Syrah destemmed and very little oak, so the wine is intense yet beautifully rounded rather than heavy. Fresh blueberries, black cherries and plums lead into a plush, full bodied palate with baking spices and a generous core of berries. Decant it, then serve it with roast lamb, a casserole or a rich cheese board, at about 15°C.

Taste

Deep purple in colour. The nose is dominated by fresh black fruits, blueberries, black cherries and plums, with a lift of blossoms, spices and leather. The palate is smooth and full bodied, with plush tannins, fresh blackberry fruit underlain by minerals and sweet baking spices, and fresh red berries. Rich but balanced, with a generous, fruit driven finish. Delicious now, and it should keep for several years.

About the Producer

Château de Gourdon is a historic estate near Bollène, in the heart of the Southern Rhône, where the first vines were planted in 1870. Since 2018 it has been owned by Macedonian winegrowers, now part of the Tikveš Châteaux & Domaines group, with the aim of making great Côtes du Rhône that stays true to the estate’s heritage while respecting the environment. Its vineyards, in the Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages Suze la Rousse appellations, grow in fine sandy soils with a Mediterranean climate, and some border Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The estate is certified High Environmental Value (HVE Level 3).

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.

We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Advent Calendars - Due to the made-to-order nature of our Advent Calendars, they are not eligible for a full refund. However, we reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of store credit.
