Château du Moulin Haut-Médoc 2020
Château du Moulin Haut-Médoc 2020
91 Points - Decanter. Owner Jose Sanfins is also the Director at the 3rd growth Château Cantenac Brown. 100% aged in oak barrels, this beautifully complex wine with a velvety finish is made from 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and can be aged for up to 20 years. This wine is a beautiful deep ruby colour. Richness and density are both apparent in a wine that will eventually turn into bold ripe black fruits. A wine for both the present and the future. "Well-delivered slice of Médoc with clear, dark cassis fruits from an estate in the village of Lamarque, near St-Julien. One to look out for." Decanter

Wine Press Ratings / Awards
91 Points / Silver Medal - Decanter World Wine Awards
"Smoky, spicey nose, with generous vanilla, cedar spice, and deeply savoury notes. Dense, red, and blue fruit on the palate, bright acidity, and a lingering finish."
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2019)
"The firm tannins are very evident in this structured wine. The black currant fruitiness is beginning to push forward as the wine matures. Richness and density are both apparent in a wine that will eventually turn into bold ripe black fruits."
91 Points - Decanter (2018)
"Another estate (like Chantelune in Margaux) that is owned by José Sanfins, director of Cantenac Brown. Grilled sweet damson and oak notes; this is a smooth, well-delivered slice of Médoc with clear, dark cassis fruits from an estate in the village of Lamarque, near St-Julien. One to look out for."
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2016)
"Under the same ownership as Château Cantenac Brown in Margaux, this estate has produced a generous, spicy wine in this great vintage. Its richness is happily balanced by acidity from the black-currant flavors that gives a fresh, succulent aftertaste. Drink from 2022."
About the Producer
Situated next to Chasse Spleen and on one of the highest plateaux in the Médoc we find the vineyard of Château du Moulin. A moulin – or windmill – must be high in altitude or it is useless so this accounts for the wonderful sun exposure.
Owner José Sanfins just happens to be both director of Château Cantenac Brown as
well as winemaking buddy of Eric Boissenot. His day job allows him to analyse the finest equipment and techniques for his own wines – without the need for experimenting with precious few vines. His friendship means that Eric Boissenot – also a winemaker in Lamarque is often on hand to work with José during harvest, sorting and winemaking periods.
