92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. One of the little jewels of Margaux, from a vineyard that is certified both organic and biodynamic and sits among the vines of Château Margaux itself. Soft, ripe and full of black cherry, it is Margaux at its most charming and approachable, made in the cellars of a classified growth. Cabernet Sauvignon gives it structure and blackcurrant freshness, while Merlot adds softness and juicy fruit. It is the kind of elegant, floral red that suits roast chicken, duck, lamb or a mushroom risotto. Serve it just below room temperature, and give it a little time in the cellar.

Soft and ripe, with a black cherry aroma and juicy blackberry flavours lying over a gentle core of tannins. A high level of acidity gives the wine freshness and lift, and it finishes fragrant and elegant. Full of promise, and it should be at its best from 2029.

About the Producer
In the 18th century Château La Gurgue belonged to the parish of Margaux, and two of the village's mayors later owned it in turn. Jacques Merlaut bought it in 1978 and entrusted it to his daughter Bernadette, who revived a neglected estate. In 1988 it was picked by 50 tasters as one of the ten most typical wines of Margaux. Since 1993 it has been run by Claire Villars-Lurton, who has converted the vineyard to organic farming, certified in 2016, and to biodynamics, certified in 2018 by both Demeter and Biodyvin. Its vines are surrounded by some of Margaux's greatest growths, and Château Margaux itself coveted them for years. The wine is made in the cellar of the classified growth Château Ferrière, with Éric Boissenot as consultant.

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.
As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.
Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.
In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.
If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.
No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.
Advent Calendars - Due to the made-to-order nature of our Advent Calendars, they are not eligible for a full refund. However, we reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of store credit.
