Called a candidate for the wine of the vintage by the Wine Advocate, and one of the gems of 2008 by Jeb Dunnuck, this is a mature Pauillac from the estate that became Bordeaux's biodynamic pioneer. 2008 was the year draft horses first joined the vineyard team, and the wine has the purity and freshness that came from that care. Cabernet Sauvignon leads with blackcurrant and lead pencil, Merlot adds richness, and Cabernet Franc adds perfume. Now well into its drinking window, it is a great match for roast lamb or a good steak. Decant it and give it a little time.

Taste
Deep, opaque purple in youth, now softening at the edge. The nose is intense and pure, with blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, lead pencil shavings, sweet tobacco, graphite and a hint of forest floor. The palate is full bodied, with fabulous richness and texture, dense but silky tannins and tremendous freshness. It has a mineral streak and a long, succulent finish, and it shows class and impeccable balance. Drinking well now, with the structure to keep for years to come.

About the Producer
Château Pontet-Canet takes its name from Jean-François de Pontet, Governor of the Médoc, who bought land in the Canet area of Pauillac in 1757. It was ranked a Fifth Growth in 1855, and it has been owned by the Tesseron family, led today by Alfred Tesseron, since 1975. The estate began converting to biodynamic farming in 2004, and it brought in draft horses in 2008. It was certified organic by Ecocert and biodynamic by Biodyvin in 2010, becoming the first classified growth in the Médoc to hold both, and Demeter biodynamic certification followed in 2014.

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.
As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.
Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.
In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.
If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.
No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.
Advent Calendars - Due to the made-to-order nature of our Advent Calendars, they are not eligible for a full refund. However, we reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of store credit.
