91 Points - International Wine Report. Owned by the Delon family of Château Léoville las Cases in Saint-Julien, this small property has produced a dense wine. Château Saint Michel is winemaking at the pinnacle of technology. This medium-bodied red possesses a fine, silky texture and nice balance all the way through the finish. There is a lovely elegance to this wine made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc grape varieties. IWR:  "The 2014 Château Saint-Michel opens to pretty aromas of cherries and spices woven together with mineral, fresh cut floral and tobacco. This medium-bodied red possesses a fine, silky texture and nice balance all the way through the finish, which lingers with fresh red fruits, tobacco and spices notes. There is a lovely elegance to this wine, and I expect it to flesh out and continue to take shape in bottle over the next few years."  Simply Fantastic.

About the Producer

This small, 6 hectare, property was purchased by the Delon family of Châteaux Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis, and Potensac at the same time as Château Nenin in Pomerol. Located on the border of the pretty Fronsac appellation on a clay-sand soil, the vineyard is managed and the wine is made by the team at Château Nenin. This could be considered as the laboratory of the Delon family. Cutting edge techniques are tried and tested at Chateau Saint Michel making it a wine at the pinnacle of technology. The grapes are sorted using optical sorting tables that remove ALL undersized and unripe grapes as well as ALL stems and leaves. This wine is totally pure and ready to be enjoyed.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2016)

"This juicy wine is deliciously ready to drink. With 90% Merlot plus perfumed Cabernet Franc, the wine is rich, balanced, full of black currants and a supporting layer of tannin. Drink now." ROGER VOSS

92 Points - International Wine Report (2016 Vintage)

"The 2016 Château Saint-Michel Bordeaux Supérieur begins with inviting aromas of ripe cherries and raspberries which are woven together with fresh florals, spices and hints of licorice. On the palate this is medium-plus bodied with nicely polished tannins and a juicy mouthful ripe fruits which bursts onto the finish. A lovely showing and excellent value which will be accessible early on."

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2015 Vintage)

"Owned by the Delon family of Château Léoville las Cases in Saint-Julien, this small property has produced a dense wine. Bold tannins are balanced by rich black fruits and pure acidity. With 90% Merlot, it is a smoky, fruity wine with good potential. Drink from 2020." ROGER VOSS
