The primary focus at Dornier lies in the production of premium quality wines with minimal intervention which are expressive to the unique terroir. Donatus Red is a classical Bordeaux blend from 5 vineyards on the slopes of the Stellenbosch Mountain. Bursting with flavours of blackcurrant and liquorice. The palate is refined and elegant with silky tannins. On the palate flavours of blackberry and cassis are abundant, with hints of dark cherry and a touch of cedar.

Tasting Note

For the second successive year Dornier Donatus Red has secured a Top 10 ranking in the Prescient Cape Bordeaux Red Blend Competition. Sharing joint second place at 94 points this wine is exemplary of Dornier’s ongoing pursuits towards fine wine production. The 2018 vintage of Donatus Red is a blend of 61.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.5% Cabernet Franc, 11.5% Malbec, 11.5% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot. Matured for 18 months in French Oak, the wine shows aromas and flavours of red and black berries, herbs and earth. The pallet is full bodied with dense fruit and sleek tannins.

Blend

61.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.5% Cabernet Franc, 11.5% Malbec, 11.5% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot. Matured for 18 months in French Oak.

The primary focus at Dornier lies in the production of premium quality wines with minimal intervention which are expressive of the unique terroir of The Golden Triangle whilst showcasing the complexity and finesse of the noble grape varieties planted at Dornier. Reverence for tradition is salient at Dornier as is difference where it leads to improvement.

Dornier Wine Estate is located on 4 different farms in the Upper Blaauwklippen Valley namely Keerweder, Groenkloof, Heldemeer and Stellenrust (Homestead) the latter of which includes a historic Sir Herbert Baker designed homestead and one of the first wine cellars ever built in Stellenbosch in the late 1600s.

TastingBOX

The TastingBOX is delivered free of charge by UK Royal Mail Tracked 48hr to UK addresses only. 

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery. 

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
