Seresin Estate Raupo Creek Pinot Noir 2015

Seresin Estate Raupo Creek Pinot Noir 2015

95 Points - Emanuel Pesqueira. From vines grown on a steep north facing slope in the Raupo vineyard, where the soils are dense and clay-based. The vines are cropped to produce enough fruit for just one bottle per vine, and this fruit is handpicked and completely de-stemmed before being fermented with wild yeast. "This single-vineyard wine from well respected biodynamic producer Seresin (which has recently been majorly downsized, so relish these older vintages while they're still here) from the clay slopes of Marlborough's Omaka Valley, is hard not to fall head over heels for. It fills the nose with a perfume of ripe cherries, florals, cocktails bitters and savory spices. It shines most brightly on the palate, which is juicy, bright and harmonious, with precise tannins." Wine Enthusiast - A sensational Fine Pinot !

Taste

Dense forest floor and mushroom aromas combine with ripe plum and dark fruit notes. Extended time on skins and ageing in carefully selected French oak barriques have aided in creating a highly complex and expressive Pinot noir, that show beautifully the very special nature of the Raupo vineyard for producing remarkable Pinot Noir.

About the Producer

A new world winery with an old world approach - Seresin are in no hurry when it comes to their wines. They let the wild yeasts that live in their vineyard ferment the grape juice into wine. Working this way does take a little more time, but they get wines with added savouriness and with more mouth watering textures and flavours. They also show a unique sense of place. They let all our wines spend time in barrel or bottle before release. Good things come to those who wait.

95 Points - Emanuel Pesqueira (The Sommelier Collective)

"This is a beautiful wine – approachable yet complex and well balanced between acidity and fruit concentration. The nose conjures images of cherry pie and rose bush, with savoury, sappy tannins and a high-toned red-fruit profile. Great balance between power and elegance. Wonderful with roast quail stuffed with figs and prosciutto."

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2014 Vintage)

"This single-vineyard wine from well respected biodynamic producer Seresin (which has recently been majorly downsized, so relish these older vintages while they're still here) from the clay slopes of Marlborough's Omaka Valley, is hard not to fall head over heels for. It fills the nose with a perfume of ripe cherries, florals, cocktails bitters and savory spices. But it shines most brightly on the palate, which is juicy, bright and harmonious, with precise tannins. A tightrope walk between sweet and savory that makes another sip all too easy."
