Owen Bargreen calls Abeja's Chardonnay one of the benchmarks for Washington State, and this 2024 is sourced from top sites including Celilo, the estate's Skysill vineyard and Kenny Hill. It is 100% Chardonnay, whole cluster pressed and aged in French oak, concrete and stainless steel, with a creamy, almost medium bodied texture and a long mineral finish. Yellow apple, peach gelato and a melting beeswax candle give it charm, and Wine Enthusiast found it proudly Washington and eager to make friends. Serve it lightly chilled with roast chicken, lobster, grilled halibut or a creamy pasta.

Taste

At first, the scent of a yellow apple, then with a little swirling, bursts of lemon scented laundry powder, a melting beeswax candle and peach gelato. Dense and creamy, with flavours of pear, almond and mineral water gliding across the palate, and loads of underlying minerality from the old vines and top sites, with white peach and vanilla custard. The wine is almost medium bodied, with a long, savoury finish. Aged for 10 months in a combination of new and used French oak, concrete and stainless steel. Delicious now, and it should keep for at least another decade.

About the Producer

Abeja, Spanish for bee, is a century old farmstead in the foothills of the Blue Mountains outside Walla Walla, named to honour a deep respect for the environment and the value of working together. It was founded by Ken and Ginger Harrison, who came to Walla Walla in the late 1990s searching for land to plant world class Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are made by Dan Wampfler and Amy Alvarez-Wampfler, whose combined experience includes Dan's time at Columbia Crest, where he helped make the wine that became Wine Spectator's number one wine of 2009. Abeja was named Washington Winery of the Year by Great Northwest Wine in 2023.

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.

We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Advent Calendars - Due to the made-to-order nature of our Advent Calendars, they are not eligible for a full refund. However, we reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of store credit.
