New Zealand Pinot Noir stands among the finest of the New World, and the Rapaura Springs South Brook Vineyard Pinot Noir is a prime example. Located in the Fairhall Valley, Marlborough, this hillside site’s microclimates and clay soils create a complex flavour profile with intense dark cherry and berry notes. Traditional Dijon clones are handpicked, cold-soaked, and wild-fermented with 10% whole bunches for added complexity. The wine is then aged for ten months in French oak, 55% new, enhancing its depth and texture.

Taste

The Rapaura Springs South Brook Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 displays lifted aromas of red currant, dark berry fruits, cassis and mocha, with a subtle green peppercorn spice. The palate is rich, displaying complex dark cherry and mixed red berry fruits, layered over fresh herbs and cinnamon spice notes with an intriguing touch of mushroom and woodsmoke before finishing with refined acidity and rounded oak tannins. Time has mellowed and softened it, and there’s a genteel side to this which will develop over the next 3-5 years.

About the Producer

Rapaura Springs is located in Marlborough and is owned by two families, the Neylons and the Wiffins. The business was initially established for use as a fruit and vine nursery, but as the potential for making exceptional wines became clear, they shifted their emphasis to winemaking. Since 1985 wines have been their focus and they are now counted amongst New Zealand wine’s finest. Long-term advocates of sustainable winemaking, they have gone to great lengths to ensure they work with nature. This includes reusing grape waste as fertiliser, growing ground cover between vines that are trimmed by sheep, and investing in a multi-million-dollar water purification process that sees them use around 40% less water than the national average.

TastingBOX

The TastingBOX is delivered free of charge by UK Royal Mail Tracked 48hr to UK addresses only. 

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery. 

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.

We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Advent Calendars - Due to the made-to-order nature of our Advent Calendars, they are not eligible for a full refund. However, we reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of store credit.
