The 2023 Spätlese from the Römerstich vineyard opens with a light yellow hue and a vibrant bouquet of peach, citrus, orange blossom, and subtle spices. The palate is juicy and refined, with notes of nectarine, citrus, and kiwi underscored by a well-integrated, elegant acidity. Its texture is creamy yet fresh, finishing with smooth minerality, spices, and hints of brackish salt, making it as versatile with food as it is delightful on its own.
A note on the Spatlese style
Spätlese is a German wine term meaning “late harvest,” and it refers to wines made from fully ripe grapes that are picked later in the harvest season than those for standard dry wines. This extra time on the vine allows the grapes to develop greater natural sweetness, intensity, and aromatic complexity. While Spätlese wines can range from off-dry to sweet, they are known for combining lush fruit flavors and floral aromas with refreshing acidity and elegance, making them versatile both as aperitifs and with a wide range of foods.

Weingut Hees, situated in the scenic Nahe region’s village of Auen, is managed by Marcus Hees - the ninth generation in the family legacy that began in 1824. After reviving steep, forgotten vineyards in the early 2000s, Marcus established a “less is more” philosophy, emphasizing low yields, late hand-harvesting, and spontaneous fermentations. The result is precise, mineral-driven wines that reflect a deep respect for tradition and terroir, now grown across 11 hectares of prized parcels including the legendary Römerstich.

For that you must accept the wine’s frank grape sweetness, but this is already beautifully integrated on the medium bodied palate. Stacks of ripe star fruit, fresh pineapple and a hint of durian, plus delicate spicy notes. And if you do sink into it, then slowly but surely you will feel the remarkable structure that underlies all the richness. Drink or hold."

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.
As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.
Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.
In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.
If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.
No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.
