Albert Bichot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Reserve NV

Albert Bichot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Reserve NV

90 Points - Decanter. The Albert Bichot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Reserve is a seriously impressive sparkling wine. It’s made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from fruit grown in Burgundy’s southern Cotes Chalonnaise and Cote Maconnais regions. Produced using the champagne-style methode traditionnelle which involves a secondary fermentation in the bottle after which it rests for 18 months before release. With 10% of the wine being given 6 months of oak-ageing and with 15% reserve wines being added to the blend, it lives up to its crémant name as it has a distinctly creamy mouthfeel.

Wine Press Ratings

90 Points - Decanter

"A well-respected name in Burgundy, Albert Bichot has performed very well at the Decanter World Wine Awards over the years. The house was founded in 1831 and is now in its sixth generation of family ownership. Farmed organically, this blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay saw a portion of the base wine aged in oak, and 15% reserve wines included to add complexity. Citrussy and elegant, it's fresh and fairly restrained, with white blossom fragrance. Purity and precision. Dosage: 7g/L."

Taste

Mid-gold, fine, evenly rising bubbles lift notes of lime, pink grapefruit, white flowers and brioche to the top of the glass. In the mouth, it offers a perfectly balanced mix of freshness and richness. Full-bodied tones of lemon and lime, green apple, and grapefruit are wrapped in a creamy yeasty vanilla coating. The finish brings a chalky mineral note and just a touch of honey.

About the Producer

Maison Albert Bichot is one of the great names of Burgundy. This family-owned domain was founded in 1831 and now has estates stretching from Chablis in the north to Beaujolais’s Moulin-a-Vent in the south. All their estates and the growers who support them, practice sustainable viticulture. Much of the work is done by horse and hand and all fertilisers are organic. Like many of the top Burgundy domaines, intervention in the winery is kept to an absolute minimum to allow the wines to offer a taste of place.
