A rare Burgundy from a tiny 2.16 hectare plot of Les Crays, one of the 22 new Premier Cru sites in Pouilly-Fuissé, granted in 2020, and grown on a steep, south facing slope in the shadow of the Roche de Vergisson. The vines were planted between 1930 and 1966, and the wine is barrel fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged on its lees for 10 to 15 months, so it has richness and weight balanced by chiselled limestone minerality. Apricot, white peach, lemon zest and almond lead into a supple, structured palate and a slightly salty finish. Serve it lightly chilled, with rich white fish such as swordfish, roast chicken with herbs or veal.

Taste

Aromas of apricot, white peach, yellow fruit, lemon zest, almonds and a touch of beeswax and citrus curd. The palate is supple, compact and full bodied, with elegant structure and good mineral energy, and the finish is slightly salty and mineral, with great length. Hand harvested, whole cluster pressed, and fermented in French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, then aged on fine lees for 10 to 15 months. Bottled by gravity, unfiltered, with minimal added sulphites. Delicious now, and it should age well for years.

About the Producer

Eric Forest is one of the top names in Vergisson, the heart of quality in the Mâconnais, and the heir to eight generations of growers. Trained by the local legend Jean-Marie Guffens, he set up his own domaine in 2000, and today he manages a small holding of old vines, planted between 1930 and 1979. His grandfather was an early adopter of biodynamics in the region and has strongly influenced Eric’s approach, though the wines are made with a conventional certification. Les Crays is his Premier Cru, made from the oldest vines of its site.

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.

We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.
