The outstanding 2000 vintage produced Vintage Ports of exceptional concentration and balance, thanks to favourable growing conditions that delivered ripe, healthy fruit with excellent freshness. Now entering a superb stage of maturity, this wine offers an expressive bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, plum, violet, liquorice and sweet spice. The palate is rich and velvety, with layers of black fruits, dark chocolate, fig and spice wrapped around fine, polished tannins. Despite its generosity, the wine retains remarkable freshness and precision, leading to an exceptionally long finish. While drinking beautifully today, it has the structure to continue evolving for many years.

About the Producer

Fonseca is one of the greatest names of Port wine. Founded in 1815, their wines are characterised by power, charm and elegance. The Late Bottled Vintage is their standard-bearing wine and is made to the same exacting standards as their magnificent Vintage Ports. The main difference between the two is that their Late Bottled Vintage wines spend longer in oak casks before being bottled, hence the name, and that most don’t need to be decanted. In making their Late Bottled Vintage Port, Fonseca specially selects grapes that have the character to stand up to this extended ageing period. Conscious of the precious environment in which they produce their wines, Fonseca has invested heavily in sustainable winemaking. It was the first lodge to offer a wholly organic Port and respect for the planet influences all their activities. This has been made easier by the bulk of their fruit coming from their own perfectly placed vineyards. When it comes to Late Bottled Vintage Port, Fonseca offers a uniquely characterful drinking experience.

Your E-gift card will be delivered immediately to your email inbox for you to print off or forward on.

As indicated in our Quality Promise we will happily refund or exchange any faulty bottles. All we ask is the bottles in question are returned to us at least half full for verification purposes. If a bottle is broken on delivery we will also replace or refund it but we do require photographic evidence of the breakage. Equally we can arrange for the bottles to be collected the next time you receive a delivery from us.

Should we be unable to fulfil any part, or all of an order, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will suggest comparable substitutions. You are free to refuse these suggestions and are eligible for a full refund of relevant parts of the order.

In all instances, Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) must be informed of any claim within 24 hours of receipt of delivery by email or telephone. All refunds will be issued after we have received and approved the faulty items and the amount will be re-credited to your account within 30 days. The amount refunded will be equal to the full amount paid for the relevant products at the time of purchase and must be made by the same payment method as the original sale.

If you choose to cancel your contract of sale with Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) you may do so within 30 days of receipt of the goods. If the goods have already been dispatched they must be returned to us unopened and undamaged, and Perfect Cellar (Beyond the Bottle Ltd) will not be liable for any costs associated with the original or return delivery.

No refund can be given when a case has left bond as the value will be affected. Individual bottles of Fine Wine will be considered for refund on a case-by-case basis.

We advise contacting our Customers Services team before making any claim to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Advent Calendars - Due to the made-to-order nature of our Advent Calendars, they are not eligible for a full refund. However, we reserve the right to issue a refund in the form of store credit.
