Taste
Gaja Idda Rosso 2018 offers an expressive nose of black cherry, mulberry, and violets, accompanied by aromas of wild herbs, tomato leaf, and subtle spice. The palate is refined and medium-bodied, showcasing juicy red berries, notes of candied citrus and dried herbs, and a distinct mineral backbone. Finely integrated tannins, refreshing acidity, and a lingering finish provide both clarity and elegance.

Producer
IDDA is a joint project between the renowned Gaja family of Piedmont and Sicilian winemaker Alberto Graci. The name "Idda" means "she" in Sicilian, referring to the imposing presence of Mount Etna. The vineyards are uniquely situated on Etna’s southern slopes at elevations up to 800 metres, benefiting from volcanic soils that impart a special minerality and energy to the wines. This collaboration stands out for its focus on terroir expression, meticulous site selection, and innovative partnership between two highly respected winemaking families.

Who is Angelo Gaja
Angelo Gaja, born in 1940, is one of Italy’s most influential wine producers. He took charge of his family’s historic Barbaresco estate in 1961 and revolutionised winemaking in Piedmont by introducing techniques like single-vineyard bottlings, malolactic fermentation, and the use of French barriques. Known for innovation and quality, Gaja also expanded into Tuscany and Sicily with acclaimed estates. His pioneering spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence have earned him a global reputation as an ambassador for Italian wine.
